Water Deregulation in Wales
Whilst England was deciding to go the deregulation route the Welsh Assembly decided to retain their current structure.
The Minister for Natural Resources and Food stated that the Welsh Government had not received any clear modelling or evidence to demonstrate the benefits of competition. This left Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) as the company which supplies drinking water and wastewater services to most of Wales and parts of western England.
That doesn't mean that there aren't any opportunites to seek cost reductions. Any business (or other organisation) using 50 megalitres or more can invite water suppliers who are based in Wales (or mainly in Wales) to submit conmpetitive tenders.
If your organisation is based in England or Wales but has sites in Wales, several suppliers are able to offer single billing for multi-sites. Equally, Welsh companies with multi-sites in England can benefit from switching supplier.
